Ok needing to start at the basic starting point, where is the plug to clear the stored error codes? Just purchased D6R series 1 5rr00717 7,001 genuine hours ( one owner) been parked up for three years unused. Is it one of these two under the dash? Will use a click box to reset so i can see what new codes come up. Currently no codes have serv code when displaying so are not current. 030 0096.03 030 0248.02 113 0070.02 I want to clear the existing codes which one i know relate to my fuel level sensor not working so i can start a fresh with the trans status light that comes on. The actual issue is Trans status light comes on but everything seems to be working fine. Could come on within 5 seconds from moving to 5minutes. Machine operates perfectly other than the light on, it has sat so suspect its an electrical issue. The only thing i noticed is when in auto 1f-2r when it goes into reverse it starts off in 2nd but within 5m it goes back to 1r but that may be as im not moving fast enough im not sure. Once i clear the codes i can report back on what then comes up. I do have the wiring diagram thanks to nige. Very helpful
It’s the one on the right of your photo. Have a good look at the Click Box thread in the Shop Talk section of the forum. Loads of good info there. The famous Cat "Click Box" It is a regular event on HEF for someone to post a question regarding Cat machine electronics, Diagnostic Codes, etc. For a large number of the questions posted the answer(s) revolve around the famous Cat “Click Box”, otherwise known as the 4C-8195 Control Service Tool. This tool usually hooks... HeavyEquipmentForums Which “trans status light” are you referring to.? Post a photo please.
It sounds as though you could use an Operation & Maintenance Manual. You can download one in pdf format from HERE for US$52 and have it in 5 minutes or less. Just put SEBU6887 in the box and click the Search button.
Thanks nige, yip have had a look at the click-box thread, very helpful too it is. Trans light is this one. Will also be downloading the manual, thanks for the link Thanks
From the photo above you have at least one Active Diagnostic Code. Which one(s0 of the three you listed above is it.? Really your next step should be to diagnose and fix that Code, at that point you can erase everything and see what comes back. You cannot erase an Active Code. If it's the 113 0070 02 then it is the parking brake switch. Because your machine is diff steer, defer to the electrical schematic for the tractor rather than the truncated schematic contained in the troubleshooting procedure.
hi nige, yip i will make or borrow a click dox and clear these codes first then run it so the light comes on and report back if any codes come up. Strangely enough none of the codes above have the serv code up when they appear. The park brake was sticky but i got that working freely. Thanks
Just a thought. That Code for the parking brake switch needs the two connections to the ECM to be in disagreement with one another. Normally one contact of the switch has to be open and the other closed, then when the switch is operated the state of the two contacts changes - the one that was closed becomes open and vice versa. It might be the case that with the park brake applied the ECM is happy with the state of the switch contacts, but when the switch is operated the ECM becomes unhappy. Could be something like a broken wire.
Hi nige, Update I Cleared all the codes with a cat click box. Have the only two active codes that now are. 113-697-06 when i start it this comes up. I know this one is priority valve high voltage of earthed 113-671-02 comes on once moving. This is output sensor data irregular/ erratic Ill have a look at the priority valve once i know where it is…lol Thanks
Attached the procedure for troubleshooting both Codes. If you would like a complete electrical schematic for the machine please ask. Priority Valve is #17 in the bottom RH corner of the illustration below.
Sorry, forgot this one. Until you get the priority valve solenoid code sorted out there is no sense in proceeding any further.
Quick update, got some time to play around. Worked through procedure and Put new priority valve coil on it cleared that code. Just got 113 671 02 to work on now, possibly in the wiring since its been sitting around.
