2003 CAT 216 tandem pump input shaft

JRump96 · 2019-09-01 11:17

Hi everyone my father in law recently purchased a 2003 cat 216 skid steer that won’t move we’ve taken it apart and the teeth have been sheared off does anyone know where I can just find the shaft for the tandem drive pump, or can we use one off of a newer model? Any help is appreciated.

Start with a Serial Number, model year means nothing unfortunately. There are 8 different models of 216 to choose from ........ Next post a photo of what's broke. I think you are maybe in for bad news that the implement pump shaft is not sold as a separate part but need numbers/photos to confirm.

Is the serial number part of the PIN? Sorry I’m not very familiar with this kind of machinery

The Serial number is the last 8 digits of the 17-digit PIN. I suspect what you have will be either 4NZxxxxx or RLLxxxxx

The serial number is 4NZ04801 and I’ll try and get a picture next time we’re at the machine

This is the pump that cat used to make but on their website it says it’s been replaced so we aren’t sure where to go from there

Let’s see, looks like Rexroth A22VG and this series and A24VG come only as double pump, and there’s difference in tandem pumps and double pumps. Find nearest pump rebuilding place and ask them if they can help you. But ask your self the question: why did it happen, those shafts don’t snap like that for no reason!

Talk to these people! They on the other end of the state, but they’d Rexroth division I think in Upstate! http://www.hydraulex.com Flynt Hydrostatic is other part of them Avoid “Hydrostatic Transmission” out of Tupelo - those bastards will screw you over!!! And if you see the nameplate on that pump, you can try and give the model and serial to rebuilder, but usually machine manufacturers change the codes on those so you can only buy from them! And CAT gonna want to do exchange, and probably it’s gonna be around $7000 - $8000.

Implement Pump for 4NZ04801 - Part Number 191-9747. Still available and in stock - $1182. Only repair parts available is the seal kit. As TVA said, why did the shaft get torn up.? Have you had the pump apart to check for internal damage.? What about the drive for the pump. Are the internal splines in that torn up too.?

I'm thinking you probably don't have an Operation & Maintenance Manual for the machine. Go to https://catpublications.com/ Click on "Continue as Guest" Type SEBU7468 in the box at the top and click Search. Illustration below should appear. $46 for a pdf download. CD or paper will attract S&H on top of the price.
