Looking at buying a 2003 Manitou MSI30D Forklift. Does anyone have any experience or knowledge of these machines? It has the perkins engine which i think is a pretty decent powerplant. The only thing that worries me is the hydo drive since I live in west central minnesota and the winters can get pretty cold. Hours on the machine would be around 6700. The machine would be in cold storage and could possibly have a magnetic heater put on the hydraulic tank. Any feedback would be much appreciated. Thanks.
you could always run a lighter weight hydraulic fluid if you're in the cold all the time.
Curious why you would want to use a diesel in a cold storage facility? Most people won't do this due to the fumes, especially around food. That is why LPG is preferred. ISZ
Manitou & winters Mike, I have a Manitou with 6,000 lb lift cap. & with a 13,000 lb operating weight, it's a 2002 Manitou MLT 526 Turbo Perkins 3.9 liter, since new, with only 1,600 hours total, Milwaukee winters are no fun ....This machine has been very good in winter plowing & loading snow, however the trans temps do rise when work days ( or ) nights are long.....to the point that dash warning light glows @ times.. hope this helps, call any time , days....Tom.. http://MenzelEngineering.com
