started ok a couple times this morning...after cleaning silt out of the edges of a pond at neighbors farm, i shut it down to talk to him... went to start it, and wouldnt do anything when i press the start button on the keyless pad... tried code and the master code...everything beeps and is ready to start, but nothing... disconnected battery for awhile to see if possibly computer needed reset...jumped the starter solenoid, and it turns over normally, but of course wont stay running... i assume the button on the keypad is bad... is there anyway to test the button, or bypass it, to start the machine?
This link has a description a few posts in for getting into the test mode on the key pad. Not sure if it applies to yours though https://www.justanswer.com/heavy-equipment/5z8gl-2002-bobcat-keyless-start-everything-works.html
I dont think mine has a test mode...i saw a picture of a screen that did, and its not like mine...
I talked to Bobcat dealer yesterday, and werent any help...didnt tell me to check this or that...just $1400 for the new console, and $500+ to come out and replace/reprogram... i replaced the battery, even though it turned over fast when i jumped the solenoid...it was a walmart battery(group 26), that was 13 years old & still going strong...i did keep a CTEK tender on it in winter, but not needed in warmer months... when i tried to start it this morning, the starter bumped a few times, but not enuff to start it... so i moved relays around, because theyre all the same...no difference... luckily, a friend, who i fixed a few tractors for...fuel shutoff solenoid problems...was here this morning... he was watching the engine compartment when i tried to start it...nothing happening, but he noticed the fuel solenoid opened... so, i told him to jump the starter solenoid, and it started right up... I still assume the START button on my keypad is bad, but before i haul it over to Bobcat, im going to try to start it this way a couple times over the weekend...
