Have a C232 with a 9406 code, no hydraulics, read GaryHoffs posts and checked everything i could with no problems found, can someone contact me or post some ideas on tracking this problem down ? text 306 948 9946
Is that a Cat 232 Skid Steer or another brand. I have worked on some 236 models. Post your serial number and some help should come. Did problem happen suddenly or on going. Simon C
Does your fan spin when you start up the unit, cause if it doesn't it would point towards your coupler unless if it is spinning and a safety system is shutting down the hydraulics. Is no hydraulics no boom and bucket or nothing at all. Simon C
Its a Newholland C232 , its not a mechanical problem, everthing runs but no seat belt icon and parking brake icon on the dash, loss of UCM comunication 9406 and 9405 code
seral JAFOC232LCM451643 year 2012 read GaryHoffs posts and tested everthing he recommended , does anyone know how to contact him ?????
Ok. so I seen your other post and you have a New Holland machine. I have worked on some Case track machines and worked on a New Holland 227 track machine yesterday. Need to check the relays off the machine and under load in case one is switching but transfering nothing. I use a 10 amp bulb to test it live. Computers do not like loss of voltage on the positive side or any poor grounds on the negative side. They also do not like AC ripple voltage in excess of 500Millivolts. Is your battery in the left rear corner below the hydraulic tank, just re-did the connects on a 227 the other day and one ground cable was pure junk and that in itself can kill computer communication problems. Have fixed one Case TV380 that would just lock the park brake that had loose pins on a relay powering the instrument cluster. I tightened up the female relay pins and it has been trouble free for 2 years. Simon C
Battery is new, all connections are clean, wiring harness is exceptional , tested diodes, this is a low hour machine i had since new, never stored outside, wish it was a rubbed wire or corroded connection, tried jumping the relays with no difference , there is power at all pin 30s on all relays tried jumping pin 30 to 87 on relays with no difference. There is power at pin 20 of CN1A UCM connector and power at UCM relay pin 30 and the 9 pin has low and high CAN voltage and proper resistance across C and D. The scanner shows no communication to the UCM and only with the instrument cluster., appreciate your replying though.
Im 3 weeks into this problem, is the Scribd test from CNA1 pin 1 to CN1B pin 25 and 34 a good test with the ohm meter to see if the UCM is good ? bought another UCM and it fails that ohm test too. The test on the instument cluster works with the ohm meter according to the Scribd manuel
So there is power at Pin 20 of CN1A UCM. Would not be the first time I have read on this forum that there was power, enough for a meter to say 12.0-12.6 volts but unit would not work. Could the wire that feeds the UCM power be disconnected from UCM and disconnected at power source end. Then hook up a 5 amp bulb to on end with battery power and hook the other end to battery ground. Some have done this test only to find out, there was no light or a dim bulb. I even made myself a 7.5 amp tester and a 10 amp tester depending on the wire size. Not saying it is your problem, but if a bulb is bright for 10 minutes and the wires are not hot, you can rule out faulty wire 100 percent and if you run it through a meter you will know if something is grounding out or if the harness is faulty somehow. The Case TV 380 that I tightened up all the relays receivers only had 800 hours on it. Just saying you only need one pin loose on a 4 or 5 pin relay for it not to work. I don't have your schematics to look at it more but a person hates to throw parts and still no go. Simon C
All I can say about an OHM Meter test is that it can tell you that you have a path from A-B but tells you nothing about the strength or integrity of the wires or cable being tested. Just for example, I started a Sullivan 210 Compressor with Deere 4045 motor in it to warm up and brought inside to change oil. Would not restart, no display nothing. 50 hours on the unit so cannot be a cable bad, WRONG. Cable at Battery Positive was beautiful but burnt out inside the Lead connector. Shop foreman told me I was crazy, my Fluke 87 said otherwise. Cut the cable off and there was enough slack to heat shrink and connect another Heavy Duty all Copper end. It fired right up and there were 2 other guys who seen me test it and were surprised what the meter was reading. Not saying you have made any mistakes, have not seen how you did any of these tests, so just saying Dot your I's and cross the Tees or it could be expensive. You can ask any question and if I can help I will. Are you in Biggar Saskatchewan home of biggest white tail in the world. Simon C
Yes , New York is big but this is Biggar. I will put a load on pin 20 wire, thanks
pin 20 red wire of CNA1 has true 5 amp load and is good
Maybe there could be other wires to test , but here is one to test. Do an alternator AC ripple voltage test as some computers will not tolerate too high of ripple voltage. Diesel Dave told me not long ago that it is a real problem for some computers. I have seen it on 2 vehicles and on one the dash went squirrelly. Best done with engine revved up, Red meter lead on Alternator output post ( not at Battery Positve as the battery acts as a heat sink ) and Black meter lead on Battery Negative post and as much electrical load that you can apply. Meter set on AC has to read less than 0.500 millivolts . If more than that the Alternator Diodes are done. Have you done a Computer ground to Battery Negative post voltage drop test as anything over 0.100 VDC is too much for some computers. I do not have your schematics, but Seen a video by Pine Hollow Diagnostics that the Can wire tested perfect for OHMS but would not accept a bulbs load ( 2 amp bulb cause the wires are small - An 1156 Tail light bulb is 2.03 amps ) . The car had been in many dealerships and he fixed the wire that was defective and all was 100% again. Can wires can be faulty and pass an OHMS test but need to be able to stand a 2 amp bulb test. I am just throwing these ideas at you as they are real solutions if it happens to be your problem. Simon C
That code comes up without starting it, the UCM is failing to comunicate with cluster
One or both the Cluster and UCM is no good or the Can wires are not talking. If the Can wires were not tested with a bulb, they need to be or buy something on a gamble. You have tested a lot of things, and nothing conclusive yet. Simon C
