2012 Deere 450D hydraulic issue

Alaska Lucky · 2025-06-01 20:18

Hi all, looking for some advice as I’m hours away from anything resembling civilization and do not have the proper experience or test equipment for excavator hydraulic systems. About 100 hours since filters were changed. All are clean. No sludge in tank. Was working on a steep hill for half hour and after getting back to near level the hydraulics started a nasty pounding with boom, stick, bucket, or drives. Swing is fine. Fluid is in operating range. Bled air from 3 plugs that I know of. The picture shows the main pressure line out of pump goes crazy with any of the mentioned operations. The spare cover marked leak only leaks after attempting the hydraulics for a minute or more as my brother was trying to cycle the air out! I have many years of diesel tech and heavy truck experience but new to construction repairs so any help is appreciated. Please and thank you.

The main hose that you are indicating is chattering is from pump1. Swing and left track are supplied by pump2 Bucket and right track are supplied by pump1. Stick and boom are supplied by both pump1 and pump2. That would indicate that pump1 is likely trashed. Cut open the hydraulic pump case drain filter and check for any shrapnel . Pump case drain filter location shown in screenshot below.

Thank you. I verified the left track movement without chattering. Will check filter next.

We got glitter. Deere wants $30k for the reman pump and $4k for the coupler. Boss wants me to find a rebuild kit. If anyone has a valid kit part number or supplier for it that would help in my search. Thanks.

The original Deere/ Hitachi # for the main hydraulic pump is part # 4633472 . There are aftermarket options out there for a pump. Brikers in BC as an example.

Brikers wants $17,545 plus tariffs and shipping to Seattle then we would have to pay barge ride and pick up on this end. I can have an aftermarket in 1 week dropped 70 miles from me for $10,600 but the boss is not feeling good about that so he wants me to rebuild ours. Also, the boss is my oldest brother and he has a hard time finding long term help, or any for the most part so that’s my situation here.

Maybe your handle should’t include Lucky, if you are working for your older brother. lol

Well, I got the new pump in and new chevron rando hd46 fluid but the hydraulics are slow and the pump still seems too hot. 200*F. 2nd pump runs 220*F. Return filter is 220*F. Don’t want to cook another pump.

Sn# 1FF450DXLBD91422 Does anyone happen to have access to a hydraulic diagram for this 450D LC? I am looking for the destrokng valve location. Thanks.

Serial number correct? Has anyone performed a pump learning procedure? That needs to be done when a new pump is installed. It can be done without MPDr, but will require someone with MPDr to be able to confirm it calibrates successfully.

Did not know about the learning procedure. I did find a damaged backer ring on one of the relief valves, 5 spool side rear. Need to source them and retry.

See reply above for added digit of sn. Ordered new relief valve. How do I perform the learning procedure? Thanks.
