I have a 2000 216 and it was working fine on a job has been for years. Shut it off went to restart it and it turned over very slow would not start. The starter is just rebuilt took it Off had it tested its good. battery voltage good cables good connections clean and tight when you try to turn the key all six relays in the back chatter and the 60 amp button style circuit breakers popped out and will not reset what is my problem what caused the circuit breaker to trip? This is obviously why it won't start.
Starter wings over great put it back on wont even turn over now.
Yair . . . Redbudservice . I have no idea what a 216 is but what you describe are classic symptoms of overload. Can you bar the engine over? I have seen something as simple as a seized fan cause this sort of problem. Cheers
If the breaker hadn't popped, I'd say to take another look at your battery, maybe check the water level? After checking the engine is free, check the cranking voltage of the battery. Any glow plugs or other start aid on this engine? It would seem that the breaker tripped in the start position, but obviously the starter doesn't have a breaker on it, so you have to find what else is energized in the start position. Does the circuit breaker trip each time you try to start? if you got it reset when it cooled off.
Could simply be a bad breaker esp if it will not reset.
Sorry it's a caterpillar 216 skid steer.
