Help us help you. What manufacturer and what series or generation. A pic of the serial tag is always helpful

03 John deer 230lc has the 6068 engine I currently don't have the tags for it

That's ok. At least this narrows it down a bit. Now maybe MG2361 will step in and shed some light on this.

Welcome to HEF AI23 ! A full machine serial number would still help to insure accurate information. Red/Black wire is not for the hold circuit, it is for the pull-in circuit. That voltage comes from the K15 fuel shutoff relay (which is in the battery compartment), which gets its voltage from the 40A fusible link near the battery relay (which is also in the battery compartment). The hold circuit is the Brown/Black wire which sources its voltage from the F5 Power On 10A fuse in the fuse box. That fuse is good if your engine is starting, then quitting when you release the key. First thing I would check is the shutoff solenoid adjustment. To determine if it is an electrical or an adjustment issue is to disconnect the shutoff solenoid from the injection pump. Then either bump the start circuit and check to see if the solenoid remains retracted, or just turn the key on and manually push the plunger into the solenoid to see if it remains retracted. If it remains retracted, then it is an adjustment issue. If not, then electrical.

The fuel solenoid in the 230LC excavator is not holding the coil, and there is no voltage coming out of the red wire with a black stripe, which is responsible for providing power to the solenoid's hold side. To troubleshoot the issue, it is recommended to consult the excavator's documentation to identify the power source and any intermediate components involved. Check for loose connections or damaged wiring, test the voltage supply along the circuit, and inspect relays and control modules if applicable. If unsure or if the problem persists, seek assistance from a qualified technician or authorized service center to ensure safety and effective resolution. You can check our website for more details.
