Hey guys is there a strainer/filter on the injection pump on the cat 246B , if so where ? My 246b (3044) won't start unless I give it a little throttle and it cuts out if throttle down to sudden ( if that makes sense ).
It’s possible that it does have a screen in the inlet.. Remove the inlet fitting and adapter.. there may be a spring and screen under the adapter.. I’d sooner believe that the electric supply pump has trash in it, first.. How about changing fuel filters and checking for WATER.. Good luck
Is this the same PAT-prefix machine as before.? Always start with a Serial Number please. I'd suggest starting by removing the fuel filter/priming pump head and clean out all the internal passages, make sure all the correct O-Rings are in the correct places, etc, etc. Then drain the water & sediment from the fuel tank. It probably hasnt been done in a while. Also check that the electric priming pump is working correctly before attempting to start the engine. The instructions are....... Momentarily turn the key switch to the START position and then return it to the ON position. Note: Do not start the engine. This operation only starts the fuel pump. Leave the key switch in the ON position for thirty seconds.
