CAT0259DEFTL07869 Replacing tracks and noticed my tensioner assembly was separated and not in one unit like the left side. The spring shaft somehow came undone from the grease cylinder and the spring forced the shaft to sit on the edge of the thread effectively 'mushrooming' the female threads on the grease cylinder . Need to be machined to thread back in properly.
The screwed joint is supposed to be Loctited during assembly. Can you see any evidence of that.? Maybe someone had it apart before and forgot that bit when they reassembled it.? See attached.
Thanks Nige for the diagram. There seems to be no evidence of any threadlocker on the threads. Im curious how long i was operating it like this (im 2nd owner). Also curious how on earth i am to torque that to 1100 ft lbs!!
140 pounds on an 8ft-long pipe..?
Welcome to the Forums NN! Glad to have you.
ill have to find me an 8ft long pipe! Thanks
Heavy duty galvanized chain link fence posts work well for cheater bars and readily available. FWIW.
Scaffold poles ditto.......... If you can make it to 200 pounds your tube only needs to be 5'-6" long.
Old school techniques right there!! Still work that way
