I bought a John Deer 270 Skid Steer. Owner said it sounded like engine locked up. Said it just shut down. Starter just clicks and engine won’t turn over. Any ideas? also can the loader be disconnected from hydraulics to move? thx
Probably have to disconnect drive chains from sprockets and power up brakes with enerpac pump. Slides good on steel plates with a litlle grease on them. Don't know your whole situation . Just a few suggestions. Simon C
On our Deere 270, a ground wire was Ran from the instrument panel Directly to the negative battery terminal. (Can’t remember now but think a purple Wire) Also I had to solder In high amperage toggle switches for the seat/seatbelt switch. It has worked this way for the last 5 years. If engine won’t turn over that sounds like a different problem. Ours always started right up…

He has wires twisted together laying on the seat and instrument panel hanging loose. He said it was running and sounded like engine locked up. Starter clicks like engine is locked up. Boy that Would be nice if it Was just a wire. Nightmare is all the wires have been jury rigged and I know nothing about the 270. I have a 743B Bobcat and its pretty simple. thx
Powering up the brakes means to hook up an enerpac pump to the T-Fitting that pushes oil into the brake release pistons. The brakes are spring applied and hydraulically released. Have not done it on this particular unit but have released other brakes with this technique. You will need a good flexible hose to get it all rigged up. Probably JIC Connectors or O-Ring Face Connectors. Hope it helps Simon C
Wow, that’s a nightmare to a new owner. Machine only weighs a mere 8500 lbs . Safety feature is overkill seems like. Good info. May have to remove engine where it’s at. thx again
