2018 Cat 299D2 XHP engine temp will run hot when rpm’s get up above 2000 when running bucket only. Have a drum mulcher but haven’t even tried to use it since just the bucket causes trouble. It has been to local CAT and they pulled and cleaned the radiator, checked sensors, checked fan, and couldn’t think of anything else. We haven’t mulched with it since and it will still run hot just working dirt. Looking for anyone who may have run across something like this before. It did have a small engine fire on top of the valve cover over 2yrs ago, and CAT dealer did the repairs. Thanks for the help.
Check flow from water pump make sure thermostat is working properly Use an IR thermometer and check several places on the radiator to see temp disbursement Test for head gasket problems Test coolant cap Check coolant level And you said they cleaned the radiator. Did they clean the inside or the outside? That being said, when it starts to overheat, run cool water from a garden hose over the radiator while the machine is running. Does this solve the issue?
One can only assume that the V belt is there, and tensioned
- Cat took the radiator out and sent it to a local radiator shop. I believe the cleaned inside and out. I’ve deep cleaned the outside of radiator again since and still happens.
