Rolled the windshield down to hard and crack the glass. Went to two web sites they wanted over $1900 for the new glass. Anyone know of any places I could go to that doesn't charge an arm and a leg.
Part number?
Glass PN 214-3975 Glass w/frame PN 214-3958
Is the glass flat or curved..?
Flat glass
Just bought one 2 months ago, from Cat its only about $220 for the glass, had it installed by a glass guy for another $50. Its glued in so I couldn't do it myself. Glass guy said that he could have cut one, but he thought that price was pretty good.
If just the window is cracked you don't need to replace the frame, it is only glued on, any reputable glass guy will be able to scrape the old window off and glue the new one on. On Cat parts it looks like the whole window and frame is almost $2k, you don't need to buy all that.
As above if it's flat glass, even if it has to be glued in, then your local auto glass supplier would be my first call. If you can get the frame out relatively easily and take it to their shop it should be even more economical for them to replace the glass.
The frame comes out really easy, 4 bolts by the handles and your good to go, has to be placed level for the glue to dry
See if you have an equipment and heavy truck glass shop in your area. I busted the top glass in my 321 and the local shop cut the glass, came to the site and installed it for less than $200. We have a couple of shops and most already have templates for the popular machines in the area.
