310c stabilizer valve

D Jay · 2022-05-16 23:15

I have a bad valve casing and spool Controlling the stabilizers on a Deere 310c. The valve was made by Cessna and is long since unavailable. I tried to rebuild it but the end of one spool will not hold a retainer clip. Tried to machine a groove for a different retainer and it worked for about 2days and failed. Nice try. Been looking for a used part or someone who can fix this one for months now. Just putting it out here to see if anyone can suggest a fix or a source. Hope it’s within the normal converse of the forum. I’m down to scrapping it or replumbing some new valves. About 6lines are involved so it’s a nightmare to reengineer the hydraulic routing. thanks

If the spool is fine except for the retaining clip, the it shouldn't be too bad to fix. Take the spool out and take it to a machinist to fix, or weld a bolt to the end for a nut instead of the retaining clip, or drill and tap the end for a shoulder bolt to hold the spring. You might have to fab a new cover for the bigger spring end, but the cover is only to keep the water and dirt out, it doesn't have to seal, it has to vent.
