3306 injector pump problem

Hi all, just had fuel pump done up in D7H everything is fine except it won’t return to idle after being reved up. Mechanic (40 year exp) has pulled it all apart again nothing seems to be sticking or fouled up but we are at a loss. Any ideas appreciated.
