333G Skid Steer no forward or reverse

joeRLI · 2024-11-04 11:04

Hi all, Have a 333G skid steer serial #1T0333GМЕKЕ367896 Throwing errors codes 522446.05, 522447.05, 522448.05 and 522449.05 Unit will start, boom will raise/lower, but as soon as you try going forward or reverse, hydraulics lock out and can’t be unlocked. Had Brandt tech come and check, his writeup is in the picture, he ended suggesting issues with HCU, so we swapped that with our other 333G same year and the problem did not follow the HCU, and HCU from other machine did not fix the errors or cause any change. This all happened in the middle of the machine running, hoping someone has some answers or can point is where to look Thank you

Welcome to HEF Joe ! Please double check your serial number. What you posted does not come up in the Deere system. The 446.05 code does not come up. Is that code number correct? I'm surprised it worked at all. The controllers recognize when a controller that is not assigned to a specific machine. They usually prevent the machine from working. With that being said, it is highly unusual for all the pump solenoids to have an error at the same time. They all have separate supply and return circuits out of the HCU. So, either you have a major harness failure somewhere where all the wires are shorted, or you have a bad HCU.

Here is a picture of the serial tag on the machine… we did have an issue where water got into one connection on a harness and corroded a pin, but that was remedied and all other harness connections are reading good so far for continuity. I was also a bit surprised the HCU worked in the other machine but they are both 2019 makes IIRC, and the only difference is this problem machine was purchased second hand with no DEF system installed (some loophole? It was not removed)

You can't test wire integrity with an ohm meter. Ohm meters are only good for testing for opens or shorts to ground, not for corrosion which could affect the current to the load. The wires have to be load tested. It was not removed. The "E" in your serial number (the one before the last six digits) indicates it is an iT4 machine which does not have DEF.

SOLVED UPDATE: We brought it to Brandt, they ended up tracing it to a factory defect in the harness connection pin in the headliner. It was only giving 4V instead of 12V.

As mg2361 said an ohm meter does not tell you the strength of an electrical cable. Cause even the harness that was supplying only 4 volts would probably ohm meter tested fine with zero load on the cable. That is why we have to learn voltage drop testing to find problems with poor connections under load. Glad they solved it. Simon C
