On my 1993 410D, which sits for years on end, they called and said the hydraulic level has dropped and oil is coming out of the reverser fill tube. I see that the part number for the cooler has changed. Would that be the first place to start when looking fluid swapping in the two compartments. Is there a reason for the updated cooler. S/n 794991 is the early side of the number break.
I am not sure on the 410D but on the 410C it could have been the oil cooler. I thought that the oil cooler change to correct that problem on the "C" was carried over to the "D". Here is what a Deere solution says: Solution Number: 24493 Solution Summary: Oil transfers between transaxle and reverser Publication Date: May 30 2012 **Paper copies of solutions may not be the most current solutions** PROBLEM: OIL TRANSFER BETWEEN TRANSAXLE HYDRAULIC SYSTEM AND REVERSER OIL. OIL WILL TYPICALLY TRANSFER FROM TRANSAXLE TO REVERSER. -- SEE NOTE IN SOLUTION -- CAUSE: ON THE ALUMINUM MODINE OIL COOLER AN INTERNAL BAFFLE CAN LEAK BETWEEN THE TWO CIRCUITS. SOLUTION: REPLACE OIL COOLER WITH NEWER STEEL MCCORD OIL COOLER (EXCEPT FOR A/C UNITS). SEE SOLUTION NUMBER T000054. NOTE:OIL TRANSFER WILL ONLY OCCUR ON THE OLDER ALUMINUM MODINE COOLERS. THE DESIGN OF THE STEEL MCCORD COOLERS USES INDIVIDUAL MANIFOLDS FOR EACH SECTION OF COOLER . IF ONE SECTION LEAKS, THE LEAK IS EXTERNAL AND WON'T TRANSFER TO THE OPPOSITE SYSTEM. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: MODINE ALUMINUM OIL COOLER ARE STILL USED AND REQUIRED FOR A/C UNITS. THE COOLER IS THINNER THAN THE STEEL MCCORD. MCCORD COOLER WILL NOT FIT IN A/C EQUIPPED UNITS.
