580 sm lower kingpin siezed

Cariboo1 ยท 2023-01-24 13:40

How would you get the lower kingpin out if it's siezed. Tried heat, let it soak in move it, beating it. Even ran a zip cut around the seam. Any suggestions would help. Thanks

Lower king pin ? It must be 4WD, Yes ? Applying heat to the kingpin will only make it fit tighter.

Got it. Was a battle. Had to run the zip cut deeper around the seem then I was able to beat it out. It seemed like it had a thin bead of weld around it, but it didn't look it was welded. Used equipment, ya never know what others do to them

I forgot. Welcome to HEF, Cariboo1 ! Do you have the service manual for your 580SM ? You will need it to get your axle back together properly.

Not a big deal. Did the other side a few weeks ago. Didn't need it then. But would like to get a service manual for it. Axle just slides in.
