hey guys i have a 96 580 super l backhoe that just happened to stop shifting into 1st and 3rd gear if anyone could help me it would help me out tons
Powershift or Shuttleshift?
i do believe it is a shuttle shift from what i can see how would i be able to tell the difference?
Now I'm not familiar with the super l, but if it's anything like our k than the shifter is on the right hand side in the console. If this is true than before I'd suspect a transmission problem, 1st and 3rd are are engaged in the same direction (towards front of tractor) go under your tractor and get someone to work the shifter for you and observe whether the linkage is operating correct. If there is a lot of play in the linkage it may not be providing enough positive movement to properly engage he gears.
Shuttle has a 4 speed gearshift to the RHS of steering wheel. (guessing this is what you have) Powershift has a twist type 1234 gear selector on the FNR lever & a digital screen on dash - LHS of steering wheel. 1) If it is a shuttle - the gear shift handle may have come loose - nut & bolt (9&11) 2) Pins (9) at pivot are worn or broken 3) Bush (14) is worn or broken :drinkup
yes it is a shuttle shift i can guarantee that i will check tomorrow thanks
my L just died on me one day would not go forward or reverse it turned out to be one of the relays. there is also a computer chip in the forward and reverse shifter also . just for anyone else out there that can't get it to go in either direction.
