Hi Just noticed a slow drip coming out of the connector just below my feet when running the hoe. The fitting is a 90 deg elbow connected at a nipple in the casting. You can move the hose up and down and it pivots at the same joint its leaking from. How do you tighten up this type of fitting? thanks Jim
That should be a 37* flare, the fitting coming from the valve has a male end 37*, you are pointing to the female 37* swivel that has the flare inside that mates and seals the connection. Use your wrench to hold the center of the 90 and a second to fit the female nut to tighten the connection. You could have a hose two long or not secured that is flexing under pressure working it. Making it just loose enough to drip or it could have been over tightened before and the male fitting damaged. Easy fix to tighten and check, those fitting can be found at most hyd shops if needed to be replaced.
I'll try tightening it and see what happens. The hose wasn't moving during operation but seemed loose when I could move it by hand. Thanks for the info Sheepfoot. Jim
If it doesn't want to tighten up easily, you may want to take it off and make sure somebody hasn't put the wrong type of elbow on there, it happens.
Those two end fittings don't look the same, the one with the arrow is all the way in and the other it tight and seems to be only half way down the threads. I would also think that is the wrong type of fitting.
Agree, it could be the camera angle but does look like it is on too far. The best thing would be if a picture could be taken with the fitting off so we could see both parts. The leaking one appears to be a new replacement, a 90º adapter to connect a straight hose. Not a problem as long as they are correct style fittings.
The female end may be an SAE (45°) not a JIC. That may explain why it is bottomed out the valve body fitting. For about $5.00 you can a new one.
Hey thanks guys. A 1/4 turn tightened up the fitting and now all should be good. The hose is tight and won't move. Thanks Jim
Cool, happy ending. :drinkup
