580c locking differential clutch assembly question

jriddle99 ยท 2016-08-13 20:01

Hi all, I have a 580c. All the components to the locking differential clutch assembly are there, but there isn't anything connected to the arm of the assembly. The manuals do not show anything being hooked up to it, so I am left wondering if there is anything that is supposed to be hooked up to it. Thank you and have a great day!

You have a pedal/ linkage that should go up to the floor board. On the rt hand side, the brake housing has a small cover box, inside is the shaft, spring, yoke/fork, sliding collar. It has a flat bar, and lever with a spring/internal on the end. The rod comes down from the floorboard and hooks to it. When your in a soft spot or need both rear wheels to spin you push the pedal down to engage. I would not do that with full power while spinning or you could have some major issues. They are leaving the diff lock pedal off some of the newer machines. I will look at the casece parts page in a few and let you known where to look to see it. You should be able to raise the rt wheel off the ground and turn the lever on the shaft and feel it slide to lock the diff up. It may be frozen up or taken apart inside also, you can remove the bolts and the one allen head bolt, it just slides off the shaft, you will see the shaft and the side gear splines it engages to.

After you go to the case site and select machine model, type in 580c. When it opens the parts book you want section 06 and click on it, go down to 214 transaxle and diff lock, it shows the two different set ups for the pedal in the floor. Then go down to 228 diff lock transaxle and you can see the housing and related parts for the slide collar. Hope this helps you with your questions.

Do you know why they are leaving the diff lock pedal off some of the newer ones?
