I just registered on this site and have been looking for information concerning gear oil for a 580c transaxle. I have all the manuals for my machine and I know it requires GL-4 but it’s hard to find. However, I have found GL-4 in a synthetic so will it be better or worse in the transaxle?
Go to tractor supply/napa or your favorite supplier and buy a 5 gal. pail of 80-90 gear lube. Don't need to overthink this one. When it comes to your shuttle make sure to use hytran or other premium trans/hyd fluid.
