I have a 1970 Case 580ck does anyone know how to remove the backhoe.
Not familiar with the 580, but my 580B has two "hooks" on the bottom and two pins on the top. There are two rods with 1.5" nuts that you need to loosen through the floor. There are removable caps that you pop off to gain access. Once you loosen them, you use the backhoe outriggers and arm to support itself and pull out the top pins. The bottom hooks then release and you just pull forward. Then you disconnect the two hoses and connect them back to each machine respectively (the backhoe attachment, and the tractor). The hose on the tractor side definitely needs to be connected back to the quick disconnect fitting on the return line otherwise the tractor won't start since it overloads the hydraulic pump since the quick disconnect starts to act like a shutoff valve. It is actually pretty simple. I have done it a number of times for various reasons, usually to replace hoses that are inaccessible or whatever. But again, I am not sure how much different a 580 is from a 580B.
thanks for the advice my 580 sounds the same except the bolts through the floor.i have stablizer arms that have nuts on the top but i cant see looseing them will help ,but will give it a try .
The purpose of those rods with the nuts is that the bottom frame members that connect to the backhoe have "hooks" that hook into pins on the backhoe frame. In order to free everything up (to get the pins out) you need to loosen them up. The hooks will drop down to clear the internal pins on the backhoe section, and then you take the upper pins out. It is kind of like a really twisted 3-point system where the bottom hooks are raised by the large nut on the rod... If that makes any sense to you. Check out this website. It has a complete part breakdown on all Case units, including yours. Looks like your arrangement is similar to mine with a few differences, but you will get the jist of it all. http://partstore.casece.com/us/parts-search.html#epc::mr64163ar790205
