ok so the door hinge pin was snapped on the top part of hinge door to frame part so the top door flops out but the same hinge bottom part holds the window mount and window functions properly the bottom hinge works ok i currently have the door screwed on by a plate to stabilize but not operational but window swings out normally the pin is seize in the hinge / cant remove the door from machine / cant remove window hinge ends / looks like they broke the pivot pin and put in a threaded rod to repair / i got a welder / but is there an fix to get the door working i was thinking getting hardware store hinge and mount it to atop broken area door to frame / weld or screw it on /but the door may not swing smooth unless i get the new hinge centered jjst right / any ideas or a better way to go around getting a fix its messed up that the hinges are all welded in that you cant replace or remove easy and the window share the same hinge any way i think is either or only glass or only door to be usefull i can get plates and make the door permanant to frame or chop all the hinges off and repair with off the shelf hinges but then im stuck how to do glass ??? i need someone elses ideas and just so happens the working door has a plexi insert for glass and the broken door has the original glass . go figure
One or two pictures are worth more than a thousand words.
you see top pin snapped btwn the top 2 and i cant undo the bottom pin
the hinge got 3 parts the center for the door the inner end holds the window on and the other hold everything to frame im figureing to get a pair hd post . or yard hinges and put on high and one low and just grind off the old door to frame connections
A regular 4 inch house door hinge like you have in the photo will work. I have used them on my own cab. Don't damage the glass by welding on the hinge. I used 1/4" grade 8 bolts. If that were my machine I would put some effort into repairing the broken hinge. Just to clarify-- Doe's the door and the window together open and close normally with just the bottom hinge ? If it does surely you can get that lower pin out. PB Blaster or a product like it is your friend in this situation. If you could get the door on a workbench then you would have more options in regards to getting that seized pin out of the door and cab sections of the broken pin.
window works normal i got the door open just not safe on the one hinge . may pop off in my hands while open . so i got a builder hurricane strap /flatened it out and tied the door to frame in the front by the door handle ( temp fix) i tried turn the pin nuts off no go .. i treid a punch and hammer but hard to get a good shot at it . what about heating it up (if i get the door on a bench) the parts that hold the glass on are plastic i got in the woods a couple times and the use of only one door was a little tricky if i was near a obstacle . be nice to fix / another project to add to the list
I wouldn't use heat on it because of potential damage to the plastic. Get some help when you take it off. If you can't get help, put a C clamp on top of the door prior to taking it off and secure it from falling with a come-along or chain hoist. If you have a Dremel get a hand-full of cut-off wheels and cut through the pins right in the hinge joints. If you don't have a Dremel use a 1/4" angle grinder with a thin blade. You can fabricate washers to make up for the metal that is removed with the cutting operation. Be sure to use a lot of duct tape and cardboard to protect the glass. The sparks from the cutting operation can destroy your glass in a split second.
If the Fasteners holding the glass in could be removed i would take the glass out to work on the hinges.
