I have a 1988 580k that has always started very well, but lately when i start it, it stalls right back out and i have to give it a shot of starting fliud and then it is fine. Seems that maybe the gas is not staying up in line maybe? Any ideas? Thanks
Sounds like there is air getting into the system, is there any fuel leaks on machine, especially when it is not running? any filters been changed lately? Fuel lines cracked? In-line filter still on it? - maybe blocked. Some models have a check valve at fuel return line at the chassis - could be faulty. Lift pump could be draining back due to built in check valves playing up - if so it will need replacing.
I agree with Alrman, lift pump. There is fuel in injection lines for initial start up, but it quickly stalls because lift pump has allowed fuel to drain back to tank. My best guess.
