A loud noise coming from the hydraulic pump and loss of all functions to the loader and backhoe. Can this be fixed or is the only fix a completely different pump? This is a Case 590 sm tractor backhoe. About 4000 hrs. There was no sign of loss of hydraulic power or flow to the loader or backhoe. While using the loader I dumped the bucket and instantly heard a loud clanking noise snd had not hydraulic functions. There is no external leaking of fluid. Is this something major or could it be a seal/ o-ring? Thanks
my money says it is a failed pump sorry to say
I wonder if it could be the coupling spline between the engine? Mine is a bit worn and could shear the teeth out I'd reckon before the pump gives any trouble - we need alrman here, may not be the same design as a 580SK. If it is the coupling then there is hope, pump wise it will be messy if a bearing and gear has gone. Did it stall the engine when it failed? Still we need alrman - good luck.
Welcome to HEF nikeswoosh36 :drinkup It does sound like the pump has stopped turning due to a failed coupling. It usually destroys the pump input shaft in the process. That is the first place to look. Good call AU! What do you need me for?......
