Hi all, our gun club recently came into the possession of an old 640 Champion grader. It has a problem with the timing on the blade rotation cylinders. The blade is at 2 o'clock/8 o'clock and the pitman arms are at 3 o'clock and 12 o'clock. The blade will only rotate a little bit then stops. We were told that the blade rotation cylinders that are hooked to the pitman arms have to be timed so that when one gets to TDC/BDC the other can help it over the dead spot. Also there is the rotary spool valve geared to the turntable to actuate the pitman arm cylinders in the correct sequence. Does anyone have experience "timing" these things or have a diagram of where the cylinders should be in relationship to the pitman arms? Thanks for your help in advance
I have a service manual that shows the procedure to time them, will upload it tonight if that helps.
That would be great! We've been searching for a service manual for the past month but with no luck. Thank you very much. New Zealand is a great place. Been there twice. South Island north and west coast is very similar to Vancouver Island. Mountains, green forests and rain.
Sorry, forgot to grab the manual from the shop today will get it on the weekend. Glad you liked NZ, I would like to get to Canada some time for a fresh air pie and a look around.
http://www.varvayanis.com/sp/Equipment/Champion_730A.htm Theres a bunch of links to service and shop manuals at the bottom of the page. Its for series 2 machines but theres an off chance its the same set up. Cant hurt to look
Forgot to ask if your grader had internal or external circle drive so I'll put both up, hope one of them is right for your machine. Internal.
External.
