I am trying to remove the differential lock housing on my 71 580B backhoe to fix the brakes. I have removed the 6 hex head bolts but the housing won't come off. the back end comes out about 1/16" but the front half won't budge. it feels like there is some thing else holding it on. anybody have any tricks ? thanks, Duane
There is six bolts that hold it on, five that have a wrench head and one that is a recessed Allen head bolt, lower rt hand hole looking at your pic.
In general, if that allen head that's holding it doesn't come out easy, then put the two bolts back in next to it and tighten it down before getting any more serious. Unless that housing is loose enough to wobble up and down a tiny bit, then wiggle it while putting pressure on the allen bolt.
