710G Outrigger removal question

Catdawg ยท 2012-11-07 17:01

Hi, I'd like to remove one of my outriggers on a JD 710G... Any tips on how to do this? IE how to remove the lines safely and take out the pins...I am a newbie with backhoes, namely the hydraulics. I plan to remove the arm and take it to a repair shop that specifically rebuilds hydraulics. Thanks all!

Catdawg, To remove the outriggers, just set the foot on the ground, make sure it is not lifting on the machine. Normally you would turn off the motor and work the controls to relieve pressure from the lines but the outriggers probably have built in locks so just ignore that part. Unscrew the hydraulic connectors and cover the hose ends with a clean rag and masking tape to prevent dirt from entering. Watch for the o-ring so as not to loose it. Removing the pins is as easy as removing the clips or bolt from the end and driving it out with a sledge hammer and old steel rod to punch it out. If they are rusted and seized to the bushings, thats another story. Hope this helps a bit. It's all just common sense. Take you time so as not to get hurt. The parts are heavy, especially 710 parts.
