75xt Drive chains?

PJ The Kid ยท 2016-07-18 12:10

Got a call from one of my side customers saying he thinks he blew a drive chain on a 75xt. I normally only work on his on road equipment and such. Is there any good way to verify it is the chains and any think I can have him check before I head out there after work? Also how bad are these to replace?

Jack one side up, see if one wheel freewheels, or if both turn free but turn together. There's one chain for the front, one for the back, on a common drive sprocket. Don't know about working on them.

Usually what lantraxco said about freewheeling is true when a chain breaks, except when the broken chain is stuck & jammed up under a sprocket..... The sprockets are easily damaged in such a situation & sometimes the damage to the teeth is more than a die grinder can repair & a new cog needs to be installed. Endless chains are factory fitted to these, however a new chain from CNH will have a joiner link. Just buy a 10' length of chain from your bearing supplier & make one to suit, there is usually enough left over for next time. In the world of skid steers, Case is probably one of the easiest to repair.

Ended up not being chains. The left side is not powering at all, the right side is working properly. The right side was missing thr smaller bolts that hold the parking brake cog to the drive sprocket and the main center bolt was loose. The left side looks normal. Is there a good was to tell if my problem is in the valve set or in the drive motor? Guy says he heard a pop and it quit operating on the left side.
