Hi folks. You've all bee so very helpful to me by sharing your vast knowledge I thought I might do my little part to add to the collective. I was wrestling with the traction lock not releasing and noticed all the lights on the BICS box were flashing. Couldn't find a reference to what that means in the forums. Happened to be reading in the systems analysis section of the factory service manual and saw a footnote about all the BICS lights flashing is indicative of the voltage being out of range (below 9 or above 16). Sure enough, my voltage regulator was toast and the alternator was pushing 18.5 volts into the battery. Trip to my local starter/alternator rebuilder and we are up and running again at half the cost of what the dealer wanted for a new alternator.
