Ouch, did it break loose from the mounts?

I'm no engineer, but I've always been told you want half the diameter of your bolt hole worth of material between the bolt hole and the edge of the steel. The bolt holes in that case look pretty close to the edge and it also looks like where the failure originated.

we are assuming that the bolts started to loosen . some were broke off. the small peice was probably the only bolts that remained tight and the gear box was kinda flexing until it couldnt stand the movement. thats our theory anyway. i was wondering if anyone had experienced this.

We just had a 880 loader rotec failure too.Broke right off and the poor guy went over backwards,at 3700hrs.Seems like Tigercat is having swing bearing issues for sure.Once the bolts come loose or start to break you know you are gonna have trouble.Best to split machine and then do it all then. Many of the Tigercat bunchers in BC have had this failure also

Bolts came loose. Pretty common problem on 870/860 check the bore were the swing motor sits it most likely needs to be line bored because its out of round. Have a good lOok at the teeth on the swing bearing.

Have you actually looked at the picture Of the 880? The flange were the bearing bolts to broke the flange off the tub the weld failed. You should proabley double check your Information before you post not send a guy off on a wild goose chase.

Does anyone know where a guy can try to find a rebuilt or a used swing gear like the one u had a problem with , I have the same machine , a 2004 Tigercat 822 , ares just piled up , machine has 8000 hours , just wondering if there is anything available to save a guy some money . Any help is greatly appreciated . Thanks

I would say Drifter is on the money. The bore that it fits into has to have the correct sizing to give the housing support. I've not bored any forestry equipment but plenty of excavator swing box bores that were worn out and causing swing box failures.
