a buddy of mine just bought a case 850, a plain 850(right at the serial number split, newer side)with the old style 6way blade. when he has his blade angled forward, either side, and pushes against a tree or whatever, the blades pushes back till it stops against the frame. it will not hold in place, I assume the O-rings and backers are worn out on ram head in the cylinder. would this be a safe assumption? any help would be appreciated
That's a power/angle/tilt/pitch blade, and I think they are still sold as a option to the inside c frames if someone wanted one. You can cap off one side and place the corner bit to a solid object, move the angle lever, and see if it will move the machine back, then do the other side and see if it does the same. The lines are connected rod end on one side to tube end on the other, so capping one side turns the cylinder on the other side to a double acting cylinder to test with. Your main relief pressure is 1650 +/- 50 psi, the circuit reliefs are set at 2150-2500 psi so you have to have a hand pump to check them if the cylinder packing checks good.
thank you
I have the same problem a Case 850K. I have rebuilt both angle cylinders and put seals in the blade angle control valve. All had small leaks. The blade holds better but still won' stay put.
The blade angle works fine when you angle it forward or backward but will just not hold at any position. The service manual for the 850K series 2 says the above procedure of capping the cylinders works on all cylinders except the angle cylinders. Also says the angle circuit has anti-cavitation valves instead of circuit relief valve. If the control valve relief (main relief) had a problem would this not also affect the lift and tilt? Any ideas or information would be greatly appreciated.
