87 Case 580 Super E Clutch disconnect

Have an issue with clutch disconnect. I installed a new (rebuilt) shuttle. reconnected all wiring and machine would not move. I disconnected the solenoid wire to the shuttle and now it moves. put test light on plug and it is 'hot' on one side and not the other. If i plug it back in and push the disconnect button on the loader handle, the machine will move. it seems the switch on the loader handle is working opposite the way it should.

The thumb button is supposed to be N/O and when it's pushed it puts 12VDC on the large solenoid. Maybe you need to replace the pushbutton. Check it before you order one cause they are expensive. Does yours still have a working foot switch for the clutch?

Bowen, thanks for the quick reply! Yes, the floor switch still works. I'll have to pull the switch on the loader control and test it. Yes, you are correct on the expensive part, i saw it on colemans web site for $72, WOW! Thanks again.

If you can get the thumb switch out hopefully the wires will be long enough to pull it up to disconnect it. Maybe the contacts are partially welded closed. It is strange if the thing opens the circuit when you push it. It may be some other wiring issue... Those little thumb buttons are weak as that large solenoid draws a lot of current, especially if the solenoid might be bad or some problem inside the shuttle. If you do just disconnect the button, make sure to insulate the wires. You could leave 1 side connected.

You probably connected some wires "backwards" near the trans, I don't know your setup but I do know if you reverse wires on a dc motor, it will turn in the opposite direction. Somewhere, you have put the wires on, in reverse. Re-check your wiring.

Can't a similar "generic" on / off button switch be used in place of the Original part if one can't be found? As long as it meets the electrical requirements,
