hi all i have a 92 kw t800 with a big cam 400 in it. recently it started giving us trouble. the throttle response is terrible. there is absolutely no response for about 2 seconds after pressing the pedal and once you let off it stays idled up for 2 seconds before it slowly idles down.. ' its a mechanical linkage, so the issue would have to be in the fuel system i would guess
Sounds like you have air in the fuel. The suction line worn through somewhere.
Or water in the fuel.. either way, disconnect the linkage at the pump and operate it by hand just to rule out the linkage..
You need to define what engine you have, there are three possibilities in 1992, BCIV, 444, N14 manual. Those all use a PT manual pump but it's nice to know which engine you have. The best test for sucking air-The feed line to injectors goes straight up out of the top of Fuel Shut Off Solenoid-It takes a 1/2" tubing/flair nut wrench. Crack it loose then just tighten it just barely, start engine and let idle loosen that fitting a very small amount just enough to let the fuel crown at top of fitting and it still run. If you see any bubbles or foamed fuel it is picking up air before the pump. Throttle shafts can suck air but normally you will see some fuel leakage also. Remove the throttle linkage to make sure the brake over lever is tight on throttle shaft and throttle returns to preset throttle stop. Main reason for knowing which engine you have is the possibility that it could be a Step Time Control {STC engine}.
