Im posting for my cousin. You all have some great insight anytime I post about my machines, so here goes! My cousin has a 95 volvo L50 wheel loader. He has changed batteries multiple times, simply because he has no means to charge them nearby. The last time they went dead the machine was cranking and almost started. He put the jump pack on, and again, almost had it running. Then installs the new batteries and has no response from the key. Come to find out the batteries were installed in parallel instead of series. He installs them in series and now his screens wont light up and he claims he only has power to half of his fuse panel. When jumping the starter the machine will start and run. Do you guys know where volvo pulls the power to feed the fuse panel? Or is there a fusible link somewhere that may have popped? Thanks in advance guys!
The first thing I would do is trace the ground off the engine to the chassis. This should be behind the left drop panel.. that little 4 cylinder jumps around so much in there, it is common to see the ground lug break off. After that, with the engine running, is your hour meter ticking/ turning/pulsing? I ask since you said you have to jump it. Back to your question, if you have power to the bolted tab on the circuit board, you have power. If you remove the back panel (4 little torx screws) you have full view. It will be top right of board as facing it. Beyond that, you'll need the schematic. You have to check all your fuses , verify all your connections are clean and tight.
Thanks for the reply. I have forwarded this info, he will check the ground and power stud in the fuse box.
