953C pump drive gearbox debris

ldequip · 2025-10-02 21:00

went to change oils today on a 953C BBX02866. customer has recently gotten the machine and wanted to change all oils so we know what has been done. the pump drive gearbox ran a small amount out when the valve was opened. assumed the hose had dirt in it so removed it. still not much oil. unscrewed the whole ball valve and found it jammed up with the stuff in pics. it appears almost the texture of candle wax, a little tacky, can be packed in a ball. appears to be seal material deteriorated with possibly a wrong fluid??? has anyone seen this before? customer and i both prefer to act before all possible carnage is wrought if we know what to do...

If it does get hot warning light comes on on monitor most people think it’s the hystat but it’s actually the drive

ok thanks both for your replies here. He has not had the machine long and did not mention any warning lights(which usually ring my phone fairly promptly). the fluid did not smell burnt or even look terrible. the tube was obviously not recently used to drain it as it was buried in the belly pans collections... and i think from reexamining the pieces it could well be the sealant used under the cover. thanks again!
