Could anyone tell me what is the proper batteries for a 963 B are ? Thanks
The batteries should be a BCI reference 4D, 1125 CCA.
9x3843.... Napa calls 'em group "30H".
963b Thanks these old car batteries are not cutting it
I've got 31 series in all of my 963c's and they will fire off when anyother machine wont. pj
Group 31
31 batteries (13" x 6.75" x 9.3") are much smaller physically than 4D's (20.75" x 8.5" x 9.75"). The original batteries for that machine are a 4D size, use a size 31 with the original battery hold-downs and they probably won't work. Also a 31 will only go up to 1000 CCA maximum, a 4D starts at 1000 CCA and goes up as high as 1500 CCA, although I wouldn't suggest it's necessary to go that big. If you're looking at a Cat battery the Part Number for an 1125CCA in 4D size is 153-5700.
Most B's I've seen use a Grp 31, PNO 115-2422
Nige, there ain't a snowball's chance in hell of fitting two 4D's in my 963BL (9BL012**). While others are calling the batteries Group 31's, a run of the mill group 31 has the posts centered on each short side, while a 30H has the posts in the corners along one long side. Cat calls the group 30H a group 31 just to keep us on our toes.
I've seen a 963B with what I assume was a "cold weather" package. It did use 2 4D's side by side, just scarce as hens teeth in the sunny south. CAT calls for a 6Y-6870 battery gp (seperate parts) as an attachment.
S'funny, that's what the Parts Book says. However they have been known to be wrong before and probably are in this case.
Double checked. Mine calls for two 3T-5760 batteries @ 750 CCA. They're awfully proud of them @ $172 Usd each. Napa 7218 x 2 (Group 30H @ 650 CCA, $103 ea) is what's in mine.
