963B Fluids/ Joystick

1996. SN:9BL02218 Leaking fluid slightly around the 4in1 joystick controller. Also first time replacing filters/fluids since purchased. Location:USA/Smyrna, SC Would like to know if the 10W hydraulic fl is good for location. Rebuilt engine has 1000 hrs, what’s best oil 10/30 How much in gallons Brake pedal sticking a little, have to pull up sometimes to get full speed! My fist loader by the way Thank you

    Welcome....!! I suggest is that if this is your first track loader and Operation & Maintenance Manual would be extremely useful. The Caterpillar Publication reference is SEBU6744 and can be downloaded if you can't find one for sale second hand somehwere. Regarding your oil questions. 10W hydraulic will be fine for the implement hydraulic system and for the hydrostatic drive system. 10W30 engine oil will also work well.

    It is important to free the brake pedal up it gets that way because it doesn’t get used much hystat will start to apply brakes and drop under speed valve that’s why it looses top speed

    15W-40 is the most common for diesel engines. 10W-30 if it's a little colder.

    Regarding the O&M Manual, here is a genuine OEM brand new one on eBay for $42.
