Wanna try to justify all that tire spinning?

Simple people get stupid when you point a camera at them. I sure if we pointed one at you and posted it for the world to see. We could find something to criticize you about.

It looks like they're in some really slippery clay there. In good dirt push-pulling is a productive way to load, but if it's at all slick, you're going to get a lot of wheelspin. (Maybe it was not the operators' decision to push/pull there?) Using a pushcat to load where the pans can't get good traction in the cut would have less spinning. I think by the looks of that material, you're going to have some wheelspin no matter how careful they are. You can see the 623 is spinning before he even tries to cut, so you know it's slippery. The alternative is to top load end dumps with a track hoe, use cats and pans like McAninch, or wait until things dry out. (If it will dry out)

Tire slipping is going to happen in wetclay with 27's tireman! Anyone will tell you that. The lead scraper couldnt even get loaded without me pushing the rear scraper. And no we didnt have time for me to push scrapers had 4 627's and 3 paddle wheels cutting that ditch (was about 10ft deep at a 3:1) And i was finishing it as we went, the ditch ran the entire length of the job (about 2 miles) and with the scrpaers hauling 300 ft it would of been impossible to keep up. And the other 2 8's were with the hoe and trucks. There is no rock there so i see no problem with the tires spinning! Kolb is the same way, if theres no rocks spin away and heap that dirt up! We used those 4 27's for 5 months cutting in ditches like that and material like that without replacing one tire! The only time you need a dozer tp push is when there is rock or if the material is to wet the scrapers cant get thru it! Anything else they load on there own

It looks like you guys were doing alright. Good videos, thank you.

What are you building besides ditches?

Even in wet clay spinning a lot is still hard on tires. I think the lead could of eased off the throttle a little, but in a perfect world...

Vapor, I noticed those links are to videos and photos that were posted on the internet by Kman9090. Were you on the same jobs as he was ? Just curious on my part. I always thought he was based in Louisiana.

In the one clip there is a 345 and 385 loading 740's. What was the reason for loading the trucks at level with the 345 (which was taking a minimal cut) instead of moving the hoe over so the trucks could sit below it in front of the 385? Looked like one helluva bucket on the 385, guessing an 8 yard bucket, needed some dental work though.:drinkup

Me and Kman are brothers, and this job was an Intermodal for BNSF. Jim that was the conservation corridor where the 385 and 345 were loading and they had a different foreman in charge of it. We tried for a few days to get him to switch it up and put the trucks on bottom but he never did! Oh well, it wasa gun fun job and managed to get 2.3 million yards of dirt moved in under 5 months! Dozerboy i understand what your say but a company this size dont care about it, they want those scrapers heaped every pass, and get in there and outa there as fast as you can! Spinning the tires in wet slippery clay cause's very miminal wear.

I kinda agree with the tire spinning. Its gonna happen in wet material, but we alwys try to keep it to a minimum. I know of a nationwide multi million dollar company (S.J.L) that spray paints lines on the hubs on the front and back tires to monitor the tire spin. you should still be careful though. Once i was in some wet stuff, not super wet, had my tires slipping and grabbing the material (not spinning) hit a patch of rock and caused deep slices in a brand new tire. Lesson learned is always be mindful of tire spinnage no matter what material youre in because you dont know whats under the dirt

Heard they couldn't hack it in Arizona and either went belly up or left in the downturn of work.

Australian Scraper pictures Found an old pic from the late 80's a few B's building a water storage on a cotton farm on the Queensland/New South Wales border

Just one comment. If you want to try cutting a tyre easily then wet your knife first. Tyres cut far more easily in wet conditions than they do in dry ones. Hence the need for great amounts of care when the underfoot condtions are less than optimum. Some days though you just have to grit your teeth and bear it because there's nothing else you can do.
