Adjusting D6c Sprocket Bearings

Is there a good way of adjusting the sprocket hub bearings if you don't have the large spanner tool to tighten the hub? Checked for loose bearings with a bar the other day and thought I could feel a slight amount of play in one side.

Sorry,i also do not know have to adjust it without a larger spanner tool.Hope other one can pay more attention to your post and help you. I saw you have a D6 dozer,do you know how many links of track chain for the D6H dozer, with 510mm shoe.Is it 39 links? If you know, hope to get the information from you.Thanks.

I hope the seal isn't leaking. Ask around, somebody probably has one of the cat spanners you need, or you could build one pretty easily out of some good steel plate and a pipe. When you tighten the nut watch to see if the dead shaft turns too, this is a whole 'nother can of worms..

No leaks...hasn't been that long ago that the finals were worked on. Just thought I'd check the bearing preload to be sure it hasn't loosened a bit. Shouldn't be too hard to make a tool that will do the job.

If you unlock the adj nut, use your prybar over the track frame to turn the nut if you can. You could also use stiff cardboard and make a template that fit's the nut lugs. Then torch one out of plate that you can pry against with the bar. Later Bob

Making a plate to pry against sounds like a good idea...easier than making a whole spanner tool.

Make it fit the notches as close as you can. Maybe rough torch and then precise fit with disc grinder. Later Bob

A long STIFF prybar works fine. Maybe a pipe also on it for extra. We have done it for many yrs. I'll admit that making a tool isn't a bad idea, just not necessary. Good luck
