Aerial man-lift certification training

Does any one know how to go about getting certified to inspect and certify aerial man-lifts? I've seen several on-line courses but have some serious questions about them.

JLG does not have a "certification" for techs to be able to do annual inspections. Curious, why do you ask?

Gonna go out on a limb here and say excavator is asking because agencies like OSHA are so strict about aerial lifts. These are the OSHA standards sections relating to aerial lifts, and a quick search didn't show anything about a regular inspection, just the fact sheet talks about a daily walk-around inspection. https://www.osha.gov/Publications/aerial-lifts-factsheet.pdf https://www.osha.gov/pls/oshaweb/owadisp.show_document?p_table=STANDARDS&p_id=9732 https://www.osha.gov/pls/oshaweb/owadisp.show_document?p_table=STANDARDS&p_id=10754 https://www.osha.gov/pls/oshaweb/owadisp.show_document?p_table=STANDARDS&p_id=10758

If you bring your lift to the local rental store they will inspect it and if it passes they will place a sticker on the machine stating that it has been inspected on such & such a date. Is there an actual certification necessary for the one doing the inspection? If so, how does one go about getting this certification? I had a customer ask awhile back because the job he's on requires annual inspections with a sticker to confirm it. Thanks for the info ba12348, from a quick reading it seems this is more for certifying operators.

Excavator, Yes there is, In Canada, it has to be an NDT Inspection( Checks for Cracks, welds ) done once a yr by a certified Inspector , he goes over the whole unit with a magnet and iron powder checking for cracks and flaws,if it passes its good for a yr unless it gets damaged in the mean time, then it have to be inspected after repairs are done. I had go to Tech School to get my Inspectors ticket. I worked for United Rentals ( retired now) when the unit came up for a NDT, we gave the unit an annual inspection at the same time, changed oils , filters , United Rentals requires you have a trade certification for that also. I have had customers ask me the same question. it is because it is a hassle and $$$ to shut the unit down or exchange it. Most customers understand, its a liability issue, I wouldn,t want to go 60 - 80 feet in the air on a non inspected unit.
