After market parts – Swing Frame – Caterpillar

TymerTopCat ยท 2018-08-08 23:03

I am currently shopping for replacement parts for a 2006 420D Backhoe, Extended Hoe. The swing Frame needs to be replaced, it's completely destroyed by previous owner and needs to be line bored. Swing Frame Part no: 236-6954 The Genuine Cat part is around $2700 Plus Shipping. There are a few ebay sellers offering the Swing Frame as a *NEW* aftermarket part? $1200.00 with shipping? Would an after market Swing Frame be as good as the Genuine Caterpillar part?

Anything in the aftermarket world is a gamble. Good as a Genuine Caterpillar ? -- maybe, maybe not. Have it line bored, then you know what you have.

Have you priced having it built up and line-bored versus a new replacement (aftermarket or other)....?

Jason 446B posted that he had his line bored for $975.00 on July 31st. It appears it only took a couple of days to get it done. You can read about it here ----> HeavyEquipmentForums There is a link in that thread for a used swing tower for sale by Wenger's. I just checked the website and it is still available.

I also am leaning towards the line-bore the original side very heavy. One point is you know your's fits and the labor to remove and replace is the same for a line-bore job or new part. So even if the line-bore was the same price as the "New After-market" part you need to factor in shipping costs and time.
