I couldn't find anything on these loaders in search,so i figured i place a question here and hope some one here has answers. On this loader is a what shall me call it,"a forward tranny disconnect" when stepping on the brakes. Now it works great when braking but it gives a mighty jerk in the tranny when releasing the brakes and going backwards. When i bought the loader the brakes wheren't working and the brake line to the tranny valve block was capped off. i have since replaced the master brake cyl and put in new seals in the tranny valve so everything is back to stock and working great The only thing still bugging me is the tranny disconnect issue. Ofcourse the dealers know dickall no more about these loaders cause its so old(early 70's) Thanks
sounds like the clutch cutout is on. Not familiar with your particular loader but with the flip of a switch, when the brake is applied it will put the tranny in neutral and allow you to rev the engine while stopped to work hydraulics faster. When you let off the brake it will pop back into gear. How old is your loader? Older machines usually have an air operated switch you can flip on and off. Others have an electric switch that can either be found under one of the brake pedals like a Dresser or a switch on the dash
I know what it is for. There is a dis/connect lever under the seat. thing that bothers me is that with the lever in engaged position when letting of the brake the clutch slams in to gear so hard i'm afraid to break things. I wonder if it is just backlash or something else.
It could be something wrong but these old machines had a hard positive engagement as normal.
