and another rock job

This is for a storm water sewer line. They called me in after they tried to swiss cheese the rock and hammer (John Deere 600 with a 12,000 lb hammer) and it still would not brake.

Intresting pictures Nac. I have no experience of rock that hard. ( apart from overseas many years ago ) our hardest ground is either compacted stone or sun baked clay

This type of rock is Basalt it runs along the Hudson River and is very dense about 5,000 lbs per CY. The 600 with the 12,000 lb hammer was there for 8 day and went threw 3 points.

So are you drilling and blasting? Or just drilling? Looks like a very interesting job.
