    Waht is that being towed by the dozer? Is it like an early version of a forwarder? Great pics, feel free to post any more you may have!!

    That is what we call an arch, The winch cable from the D8 goes up over the top of the arch and down onto the bull hook which is were the chokers from the logs are hooked up, when you winch in the turn you can pick the but ends of the logs off the ground so they don't dig in as you are skidding them back to the landing.
