I picked up a 1988 Cat D3C yesterday. I don't have an owners manual yet but I have to add hudraulic fluid. Can I use a universal ISO 46 anti-wear fluid? Thanks.
Yes, AW 46 will work fine. So will SAE 10 engine oil or standard hydraulic oil -- what Cat calls HYDO. TDTO will work too, but not so good as the others.
Yes. We have a 1988 D3C LGP and get our AW46 oil at Costco, cheapest in our area at $26 for a 5 gallon bucket.
