Im having hell finding a clutch pump and bracket for our 01 pete 330 with the cummins motor. Does anyone have one of these trucks set up for centraly hydraulics, if so who made it? thanks again..
in that size they usually use shaft off the engine....if you have a good welder in the area he maybe able to fab a mount then just get a pump
You are going to have to set it up like a redimix truck where the hydraulics run off the crank on the front of the truck mounted on the bumper. A belt driven pump isn't that great you don't have the power and plus those electric clutch pumps are expensive.
I'm Not too clear Are you asking about a hydraulicly operated clutch, or clutch on the hyraulic pump? A hyrdaulic operated clutch uses a master cylinder (pump) and a slave cylinder (motor) The Hydraulic pump is connected to a. the engine at the front of the truck like a cement mixer, or b. the PTO (power Take off) by a shaft. The PTO is either mechanically or air operated and is bolted to the transmission. Some of the newer ones are electric over air! Please clairify your question.
my local plow guy was trying to sell me a pump that runs off a fan belt like an a/c compressor but they couldn't find a bracket to mount it to my engine. they had a bracket for a cat but not the cummins. i just want to run a spreader no plow and they said it would be fine. how much are the pumps you guys are talking about that runs off the crank, and is that something a decent mechanic could do? thanks, have a good new year..
I run a spreader on my truck with a belt driven pump with no problems, there's plenty of flow. It raises the dump bed too, and rather quickly at that. A front mounted pump like has been suggested is a pretty involved installation. The front of the truck frame must be extended, the pump mounted and a short drive shaft with u joints connects the pump to the crank. Most times the radiator has to be modified for the drive shaft to pass through it. There are companies that specialize in the equipment that you are considering. I'd be very surprised if there isn't a bracket made somewhere for the engine you have. If all else fails, a good fabricator should be able to make you a bracket without too much trouble. I made one for one of my plow trucks that gave me 7 years of trouble free service before I got rid of it.
A belt driven clutch pump will work for running a spreader as long as it has enough GPM required.Check with the spreader MFG for specs. You may have to make a bracket,or check with some different suppliers to see if you can find one. The crank driven pumps can be expensive,as you usually need to cut the rad,and have some of the tubes rerouted or pinched off.A lot of fab work involved lining it all up and making the mounting brackets. You also need a driveshaft made with u-joints to turn the pump.A little too much work just to drive a spreader.
i have called everyone from muncie to parker. they all put me in touch with their distrubutors and no one has a bracket. they also said the bracket for the cat motor won't be able to be fabricated to work on the cummins. all the local plow places here dont even want to bother with it, i guess its too much work. so im s.o.l. it seems.
You're giving up way to easily!! Put "Central hydraulics" in a Google search and watch what happens! Start making phone calls!
I have an idea The spreaders I have seen and used had an auxiliary Engine that powered the feed belt and spreader. There are some that have a variable speed electric setup that run the both components. Yours seems to be a hydraulic unit like those the "State Plow Trucks use!" There is a possibility that you could adapt your bed pump and hydraulic system (if you have a PTO to run a dump bed) to a system like that used in a Flow Boy trailer. Do you have a hydraulic system that is PTO controlled? BTW: I have already spent a few hours searching with Google, so don't waste any more time on that! :Banghead
i have a hooklift on the truck but i was told it comes off the trans and is a pto type where you can drive with it on. the spreader came off an old state truck we had that we got rid of so i dont have central hydraulics on anything and would like to put it on this truck but i can't find a bracket for the pump.....
Not sure which Cummins you have but try this link. http://www.deweze.com/products/hydraulics/index.html
One option is have a little gas powered power pack something like a little honda.
Hydro 101 where in NJ are you from? I looked into getting a Hyd. Spr. for my hooklift they told me they can add a valve onto the hooklift setup to run toe spreader but might have to change the pto because of RPM issues. If you are in Northern NJ call American Hose & Hydraulics in Paterson ask for Kenny he is one of the owners he schould be able to help you. They are a big hydraulic shop they do everthing up to custom fab work.
Keep in mind any PTO operated hydraulic pump will have to be direct mount those little PTO shafts don't do well with high rpm the little U joints grenade and the shaft goes flying :bouncegri
i'll have to give him a call that would be awesome. i believe i saw your trackhoe getting moved the other day. my guys were working at the morristown airport and when i was leaving im pretty sure i saw your machine on rt 24? (i think) i remember your name cuz my grandparents last name was stefanucci...
Yes that was probably my 160 being moved from Short Hills to Franklin Lakes
