Are these chains worth buying?

Could get this set of chains coming from a hitachi ex200-5. A mechanic estimated them to be at 80-90%. One set of chain is intact but the other set has 2 busted links. After showing the pictures to 2 different person for opinions, one guy told me that it was likely the results of the chain being run too tight and that there was likely stress being put on all the other links or that it could be a bad production run and that he wouldn't recommend buying them and someone else said it was likely due to rocks and that the chains should be fine. I need to take 1 or 2 links off anyway to fit them on the machine. I am leaning towards the opinion of the first guy but would like to ear others people's opinions also.

    Dam. Were they in a fire?

    The pin on the sprocket/roller contact side of the rail looks way more worn than 10-20%. If they broke with that little use the rails are scrap iron IMO - YMMV.

    I don't think they were in a fire but you never know. One more picture;

    They look in dreadful condition to me. I think they are a disaster waiting to happen.

    Someone may have torched all the nuts off which would explain why they look like they were in a fire. The pics. are from the wrong side to see wear on the bushings and the wearing side of the links or if the rollers were hitting the pin bosses. There is a number on the links and probably a manufacturer if look closer. With that number you should be able to measure and compare to new specs. What are the tracks off and what are you putting them on that 2 links need to be removed? I think links are usually about the same thickness on the pad side as the idler side. If so I agree with CM they have way more than 20% wear. Likely over 50% worn .

    They look a bit stretched to me.

    Should be able to get the measurement to see if they're stretched too.

    Lay the tracks flat on the ground and see how snaky they are.
