Backhoe controls not self-centering

David Bradley ยท 2017-11-16 09:38

Hi folks, The backhoe controls on my Komatsu WB140-2 do not self-center. This is more of an annoyance than anything. Does anyone know the fix? Are there replaceable springs? Thanks!

There are usually replaceable springs, but that's not the most likely issue. Have you checked the linkage from the handles to the control valve? or does it have pilot valves? Hopefully it's the linkages rusted up or something else easy. I could see one broken spring, but you'd have to have all four break similarly for springs to do this. Post a pic of the backhoe control valve, where all the hoses go to, for more advice if some oil doesn't fix the linkages...

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll check the control valve.

After a lot of degreaser and pressure washing, here are pictures of the control valves. I lubed the heim joints but the controls still stick and do not return to center. Any suggestions is appreciated.

Two things catch my eye in these pics. 1) The mounting bolts for the entire valve, are they tight? In the last pic, the RHS is sitting lower than the LHS. 2) The oil leaking from the spools, there could be oil in the trapped in the lower endcaps & creating some restriction with spool movement & neutral.
